Best place to live as a single male near mountains

Military Authority Member
Phillip Jones December 28th, 2011

Are there any places to live near the mountains for single military vets? No family, just looking to move in future to a peaceful place, preferably with the 4 seasons. Must be near fishing/hunting area and a good hospital nearby for aging vet. Turning retirement age 2012 but would still like to work outdoors at something constructive. Background as a Mechanical Design Engineer, but now need open spaces. Join in the conversation with any input Just joining this now, and will check out other possibilities concerning possible vet buddies and benefits for land purchase etc. Just looking for a small parcel to build on and live it out.

Look at Salem, VA (Roanoke, VA area) and, also, 1 hour away from the VA Hopsital in Salem, VA, look at the Bedford/Lynchburg, VA area. Terrific Blue Ridge Mountains and good real estate prices !!

I have a one bed room new house in Morganton NC 28655. I just finished it. It has an attaached garage, Living room an Kit. Combination.Utility Room, a screned-in back porch with a grate view of the south Mts.It is less thn ten miles from lake james. We have grate fishing places all around. It is 5o miles from The VA hospital in Asheville NC. I have an other peice of land that I will build an other house for myself. If you like this one. I know you will. It is two miles from I-40. Exit 100. The VA is two miles off I-40. Exit 55. I know you will love it. I am single and it was built for one person. Seems it would meet your needs. If you think you are interested. Get back to me and we can make arrangements for you to see the house. Then we can decuss the price.

Best wishes,

Dear Phillip Jones-- If U don't mind the cold in the winter & the wind, you might want to consider Cheyenne, WY....AF base right in town as well as a good VA hospital....Housing, for the most part, very reasonable! Good luck in your search....

p.s. If you REALLY like mild winters, a view of some mtns and 2 military bases in the area, as well as VA hospital...You might want to take a hard look at my town....easy to get around in and easy access to 2 major freeways....If UR into fishing, be prepared to drive alittle ways...closest lake with some good Stripper fishing (providing U have a boat) is 85 miles away...Several good resturants in the area as well, Texas Road House for one and in El Paso, just outside of town going East on I-10...small town of Fabens, TX The Cattlemens
Steak House...Best steaks in the whole area, bar none!!
