The Selective Reenlistment Bonus

Service members with certain specialties may be able to receive an incentive bonus to reenlist. The Selective Reenlistment Bonus (SRB) program is designed to help retain service members with critical skills in order to ensure a mission-ready force.

The SRB is used to retain service members with levels of experience. These levels are referred to as Zones and are based on the amount of time in active service.

  • Zone A - reenlistment between 21 months and six years of active service.
  • Zone B - reenlistment between six to 10 years of active service.
  • Zone C - reenlistment from 10 to 14 years of active service.

Generally speaking, half of the SRB is paid at the time of reenlistment and the remainder is paid in annual installments.
