TRICARE Reserve Select Overview

TRICARE Reserve Select is one of the military's health care plans designed for those that are members of the Ready Reserve, as well as their families and beneficiaries. This is different than a lot of the plans for active duty service members. It may not be as competitive a plan as those for active service members, but the reserve plan is still one of the best available, when compared to other civilian health care plans. How do you know if it's right for you?

The major difference is that there are monthly premiums. If you are single and just paying for yourself it is $53.16 per month, whereas if you are covering yourself as well as your family there is a $197.67 per month premium that you have to pay. This is pretty similar overall to the standard and extra plans. You can be covered by any TRICARE providers, whether they are in network non-network. The difference is that with non-network providers you will pay 20% of the allowable TRICARE charge and 15% in network.
