Beware Potential VRAP Phone Scam

The Department of Veterans Affairs wants you to know that they do not charge you to access your benefits nor do they ask you to provide private bank information over the phone.

If this happens to you, please contact the Federal Trade Commission immediately.

A veteran has reported receiving a call from “James,” who claimed to be with the VA and congratulated him on his VRAP approval. James told him he was approved for $8,500 and that he would receive the benefit payment within 45 minutes – the catch was that he had to provide his bank account number, routing number, and pay a $205 service fee.

Please beware of this scam and do not provide any sensitive information over the phone.
